「女士優先」是 lady first，但「老人優先」不能說 the old first。
有同學說，吉米老師， the old 不禮貌，換成 the elderly 可以嗎？
這可不是 old 還是 elderly 的問題，而是提別人的年齡不禮貌，完全可以說 After you 「您先請」，省略「老」。
如果是老人想先讓年輕人禮讓一下，一般會說 Age before beauty， age 是「年齡」，指代上了年紀的人， beauty 是「美貌」，指代風華正茂的年輕人，那 Age before beauty 意思就是「老人在年輕人前面，長者優先」，可以說情商很高了，讓年輕人讓一下的同時，還順帶還誇了一下年輕人。
不過這句話只能從老人家自己嘴裡說出來，不然會讓人覺得提年齡不禮貌。
